Inaugural plant meets the need for speed with average 19-minute turnaround
Our East Peckham, Tonbridge asphalt plant has now been operating for 12 months and has quickly become a reliable local supply point for contractors in the area.
The facility was developed as part of a £2.6 million investment, with a clear aim to better serve Tonbridge and the surrounding region. It also supports the local economy, with eight people employed on site.
On its first day, 32 tonnes of asphalt were produced. Over the past year, that has grown to 30,000 tonnes across both standard and specialist mixes, now used across highways, local authority work and commercial projects throughout the South East.
A big part of how the plant operates is its mix to order approach. It allows for tighter quality control and a more responsive service. Most customers are in and out within 20 minutes, with single loads averaging around 16 minutes.
The site has also recently received its first freight train, with 22 wagons delivering around 60 tonnes of aggregates directly into the plant. This new rail capability will support regional infrastructure projects while significantly reducing HGV traffic on local roads.

East Peckham means local contractors no longer need to make long journeys or compromise on quality with just the right mix, produced to order and ready when they need it. A year in, the site is now well-established and has carved out a reputation as the go-to asphalt hub for Tonbridge and the surrounding area.”

“Launching our first local collect plant in East Peckham was a strategic step and is indicative of our continued investment in the asphalt business and our commitment to improving customer experience and convenience.
